I don’t want to be a full time internet marketer

DISCLAIMER – If you are a full time internet marketer and don’t want to know anything else don’t read this

Wow,

I have said it!  Finally after thinking this for a long time I have finally come out and said it.

Why didn’t I just do this earlier?  I think probably because for a long time I did want to be a full time internet marketer but really in my heart I knew it wasn’t right.

I knew that it looks very attractive and exciting but actually it’s not what I am about.  I am a people person and love being out there making money with other people, talking business and going into those meetings looking for an opportunity.

At this point I should probably say that I do enjoy internet marketing. I like probably many of you who are reading this have spent hours watching videos and reading courses on the next way to make loads of money sitting in front of your computer.  I am not going to get into the chat about how much of this works or not.  I know that if you do what many of these guys say it works.  The challenge is actually doing it!

Today I do a lot of what I have learnt from the likes of Yaro Starak, Rosalind Gardner, Frank Kern, Ebed Pagen etc.  These people have helped me a lot in my online businesses.  I respect them for what they do and how they teach others how to do the same.

The problem is I started looking at internet marketing as a way to make all my income when I had lost a lot of money in a business.  I was lost, upset and a little shy of starting anything else.  Internet marketing looked like the Golden Egg I had been looking for.

All I had to do was learn and do what they say.  Spend a little money and I would make money!  Well I did make money.  I make some ok money.  And then I started getting into it more and more.  The more I got into it the more I stayed away from “traditional” business.  I didn’t keep in contact with many of the business contacts I had.  I just focused on learning more and doing more.

Video, PPC, Mini sites, blogs, Adsense, eBook, Memberships sites, Email lists, JV.

The list goes on and on and on.

So what happened?  Well I started to make money.  Then I realised that I wasn’t that happy.

My wife noticed that I wasn’t getting the buzz from business anymore.  That was a challenge.

I wanted to be back out there talking to people and making things happen.  You see that’s really what I am about.  I love the game.  I love being creative with people and talking to them.

So, that’s what I did.  I started to develop traditional business again and my life changed.

But the best thing of all of this is that I now had some awesome knowledge about internet marketing.  So not only could I talk about business as I did before but I could talk about how we can change their business by using internet marketing skills.

What perfect timing as well.  Why?  Well businesses want to hear about those things.  If you have a blog then you probably know more about how to market on the internet than most businesses.

Mike from Traffic Geyser knows this.  He has just launched the Main Street Marketing product for this very reason.

If I made more from my internet businesses than “traditional” would this change my opinion?  Well it might but I hope not because I know I would go back down the path of not getting the Buzz.

I know if you are reading this and you are an internet marketer you might say “Hey, I am an internet marketer and I have a great lifestyle and do all sorts of business”.

That is good to hear.  All I am saying is that for me, I don’t want to learn what I need to learn to be a full time IM.  I love learning stuff from the people I follow but I don’t want to be always at the tip of what’s new.  Trying new stuff etc.

Honestly, I don’t even like being on facebook.  I do it because I get people looking at my site from there but I don’t want to be on there.

Maybe I haven’t fully embraced the internet yet!

So if you are in traditional business.  A service provider or have a product and you love being in business that way then think hard before you decide you want to be an internet marketer.

Obviously get your business on the internet but perhaps you don’t want to make that your main business?
