How Not to be Successful or “Why am I not successful?”

So I have been thinking a lot recently about success and what it tales to be successful.  You will probably know that there is loads of information out there about how to be succesful.

Almost any author in the personal development or self help industry has written about this.  You can pick up some great information from these and I would suggest getting your hands on as many books as you can!  That is, if you are looking to be successful.

I thought it could be fun to write about what normally makes one not to be successful!  What are the things that stop us from getting the success we want?

In no particular relevance or order here are the ones that are most likley key: -

  • Thinking too much about what needs to be done rather than doing it
  • Not making goals
  • Not writting goals down and looking at them
  • Letting everyday tasks get in the way of the things that will get your goals
  • Letting other people tell you that your goals and dreams are not possible
  • Believing what those people tell you!
  • Not having a mentor
  • Watching TV…..a lot of TV
  • Not priortising
  • Ignoring your principles
  • Not giving yourself enough time to develop skills you need
  • Thinking you “deserve” it
  • Not thining about your goals and dreams in a powerful visual way
  • Letting setbacks…set you back
  • Not realising that setbacks are part of the journey to your goal

This is probably not EVERYTHING that could be listed here.  But, if you see that you are doing one of the thigns above then you might want to look at changing it.

Go for your dreams and goals.  Make a list, make a plan and do it!

To your success.

Nice list…I think I’ve used all those excuses at some point in time. I recently read an eye-opening book by Jack Hatfield called Natural Success Principles. After watching his premature daughter struggle for life, he observed that we have everything we need to succeed inside us BEFORE we are born. The book heralds making a plan and going for it! It was a very motivational and thought provoking book.

    Hi Matt

Must say I relate to all of the reasons listed! Amazing though just seeing it in writing also pointed out to me how easy it can be to let dreams be stolen or lose sight of them. Will remember this list whenever I have think about not doing something towards my goals.

    Many thanks Joga

    Hi Joga,

You are so spot on about that. How easy it is to let your dreams be stolen.

It sounds like you are striving for some goals?
