What is the “Power Of Intention”?

Hi,

That is a good question!  I thought this video might answer that.  It’s Dr Wayne Dyer speaking on the Power of Intention.  Wayne is considered the authority on this subject so it’s a great video!  It is long however, so watch when you have some time.

Living in the “Present” – How can I do that?

The Present : The Secret to Enjoying Your Work And Life, Now!

Living in the Present is a fantastic way to go about life. It frees you up from the daily grind and just makes life more fulfilled. I have found, since learning how to do this that some really interesting things have happened. Mainly: –

Relationships with other people have got much better and stronger

  • Business dealings seem easier
  • Communicating with others is easier
  • I feel more content

So what is living in the present?

Well I think the easiest way to explain it is by saying that you are always conscious of yourself. You are always aware of what you are saying and doing and how that is coming across to others. Now I know by now you might be thinking “I am always aware of what I am saying”.

Interestingly you might THINK you are aware but studies have shown that we are often acting automatically rather than consciously thinking about what we are doing. For example you are probably not consciously thinking of the things your body is doing right now!

Another example of this is the experience we have probably all had. You drive somewhere, like work, arrive at your destination and realise you did it automatically without even thinking about it.

Being “In the Present” is the exact opposite of this. You are Present all the time every hour of the day. You are conscious of everything that is going on and have the conscious thought “ I am aware of what is going on”

Is this making sense?!?!?!

Keep with me….

What this means is that every interaction you have during the day you are at “your best”. You never have a moment when you are unaware or slip into the automatic response habit. If someone talks to you in a rude way then you don’t let it phase you because you realise that it’s just a moment in time.

Let’s say you are at the bank at the cashier is unfriendly and not very helpful. Often we might react by being unfriendly back. Perhaps even up the tempo a little but being a bit rude. That’s how easily these things elevate.

If we are “In the Present” we might catch the situation and realise that the cashier may well have something going on in her life that is upsetting and he doesn’t realise how he is coming across. Since you are in the present then you don’t react and simply let the cashier carry on.

This is a very simple example but hopefully you can see the power of it. A small word of warning; this is NOT easy to do. As life throws new challenges at us, as we juggle personal and work life remembering to be in the present isn’t as simple as you might believe.

Don’t believe me? Give it a go! Try it for a week and see how you do.

If this interests you then I would also highly recommend “The Present” by Spencer Johnson. Check out his book below.
